Escape Life Template

The template looked like this:

School → Job → Promotion → House → Marriage → Kids → Retire → The End

I made it to step 3.

Then I quit.

On my last day, my boss gave me the backpack he'd bought 20 years ago but never had a chance to use. "Don't come back when things get tough. Because it's going to get tough."

That backpack carried me through the hardest 8 months.

2AM on a hostel bathroom floor. Dreams where I'm still in that conference room. The loneliness of being surrounded by people but having nowhere to belong.

I gradually learned to reclaim what I'd lost in those conference rooms: the right to build my own life.

Living between certainty and the terrifying freedom of figuring it out on your own, taking back control of my life, staying passionate even after realizing how hard different lifestyles can be—that's how I found my worth!

My boss's backpack retired. It's in my closet now. Too old to use, too meaningful to easily throw away.

Now, my backpack doesn't have to fit the mainstream template either. From coworking spaces to cloud forests, and all the places in between.

It's been to 21 countries and counting.
